Turner Dow Code of Ethics |
Many webmasters, in a desperate attempt to gain high rankings will use underhand methods to attain exposure. This may apply to
their own sites, or worse - may apply to their client's sites. This is always a short term measure. The search engines that dominate
traffic flow on the web have hired the smartest people on the planet. They are not easily fooled and even if they are in the short term,
in the long term they will get the upper hand and have webmasters that have used non-ethical means of attaining rank on their knees begging
for the light of supplemental results, never mind prime-page prime-time. Because of the way we do business and because of the risk nature
of an unethical approach, our Internet Marketing SEO company holds to the following code of ethics:
Search Engine Stated Principles |
The major search engines such as Google publish guidelines for ethical web site construction and linking. This isn't enough to achieve high
rankings, but is a good guide of things to avoid. Turner Dow will adhere to these guidelines and will in no circumstance advise on or
perform unethical acts so as to contravene these principles.
Search Engine Algorithmic Changes |
As the search engines change their algorithms for ranking websites (which happens regularly and constantly), Turner Dow will respond to
the new direction. We will advise on or take action to keep our client's web site's buoyant and to quickly address any issues. This may
well also apply to previous clients. We're really very friendly!
Site Redirection |
Although redirection is often legitimately used in web sites, but it's also often to mislead users and search engine robots.
We will never engage in redirection to sites that are in any way offensive to the objective public. We will also avoid the type of
redirection which is offensive to search engines - that is, sites which present one set of material/text to search engine robots but
another to a human visitor. This method has long been used for temporary positive ranking by search engines, but when found out,
leads to being banned from that search engine. Payment has generally been made to the Internet Marketing SEO company already, so now
the site owners have lost funding and lost their presence in search engine results. We won't engage in such practices.
Site Content |
We won't engage with websites whose dominant content is offensive to the objective public. This obviously includes anything which is
harmful to children and anything illegal, but also includes web sites featuring violence and sites featuring sex. We don't believe that
freeness of speech should extend to such material where it has a deteriating effect on society and we won't help such sites to be
ranked highly in search engines. In engaging with a client for our work we put our heart and soul into the engagement, we need therefore
to be entirely happy with the main content.
Internet Copyright |
Where we share in the construction of web site's, we will not offend copyright laws by the use of material that belongs to another party.
Generally other aprties are happy to approve the use of their material. As with many things in life - we just like to be asked. Often some
condition is imposed such a link where the material/image is used. This is true of the current trend of writing articles, which many sites
then legitimately show on their site to attract search engine traffic. It's accepted that such articles are displayed on many sites, but a
link to the author is required. Those conditions will be discussed as they arise. If payment is required, the amount is generally very low
and will be discussed as the situation arises. Essentially, taking images or material without agreement is against the law. In the world
of the web it's difficult to enforce, but an ethical Internet Marketing SEO company will always stay on the right side of the law, whether
enforcable or not.
Conflicts of Interest |
Turner Dow will not take on more than one site in a specific genre where the sites are competing for the same search engine phrases where
the aims of the sites are not distinct from each other. Our goals would be divided and we would not be able to give our full attention
to the first site we take on for the purpose of heightening it's search engine positioning. We tend to engage with the mission and don't
want to find that we aid with Internet Marketing SEO for a company only to be impacting profitability by also working for the competition!
So we will only work for one client within one genre.
